The Registrar Office
The Registrar Office aspires to continuously improve the service to students, faculty, staff, and alumni in relation to the development of course related information, enrollment, grade reporting, and graduation that is accurate, timely and professional.
Functioning as a liaison between the academic units and the administration related to the implementation, enforcement, and monitoring of policies regarding academic information and practices development, coordination, maintain the system improvement, academic reports, and quality services.
Methods of reviewing and auditing records to verify the accuracy of academic data definitions and integrity as well as coordinating with others to ensure that data are accurately collected, updated, and maintained systemization of performing all the functions.
In support of Al Ghurair University mission, The Registrar office is to help students enroll and then succeed by providing world-class customer service to faculty, staff, students and student’s parents with a particular emphasis toward processes related to academic records, academic progress, enrollment data, classroom support, and academic certification. The Registrar office accomplishes this mission by striving toward excellence in everything it does, challenging itself to be as efficient and effective as possible in work, seeking out new and better ways of doing academic services for both students and colleges it serves, and by creating an environment in the office and on campus which encourages growth, supports academics, respects people and diversity.
As the Registrar Office looks to the future, it recognizes its critical role in growing a strong future for Al Ghurair University. The Registrar office will continue to strive to provide superior customer service, to take advantage of improving services when appropriate and to be a leader in the campus community for performance excellence.
The Registrar office will collaborate with fellow Academic Affairs units to provide a seamless continuum of service for students. At the same time, the Registrar Office will work to define its exact role within Academic Affairs. To this end, the Registrar office’s overarching goals are:
- Upgrading registration policies and procedure, and ensuring the continuous process of development.
- Satisfy students, faculty and staff needs.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of academic records.
- Foster a simulating working environment that encourage staff development.
- Create /sustain a quality workspace environment.
Registration Procedure & policies:
Advisement and Consultation
Students must meet their assigned academic advisors who will help them in selecting the courses and in planning the schedule for the semester. The advisors may also approve the schedule.
Selection courses and Register Online
Once the student selects courses with help of his/her advisor, the student completes the registration process either manually or online. Students must satisfy the prerequisite requirements of a course as per the study plan of AGU programs.
Add and drop of Courses period:
The drop and/or add processes are designed to enable the students to make some changes in their courses after the completion of the regular registration process as notified by the Registrar Office.
Students are allowed to drop and/or add courses in accordance with the dates published in the academic calendar.
Students interested in dropping or adding courses should fill and submit the required form available in the Registrar Office.
The students must complete “The Application for Graduation Clearance” form as the information concerning the fully completed graduation requirements.
The student must fill the form and submit it to the Registrar office. No student will receive his/her degree or diploma or a copy of transcript unless the University fees are fully paid by the student.
Withdrawal from Courses:
Withdrawal from a course means removal of the course from the student’s registration, after the period declared for dropping and/or adding courses has ended.
Students are permitted to withdraw from courses after filling and submitting the appropriate withdrawal form to the Register Office.
Withdrawal from courses must occur no later than the last day for withdrawal without grade “F” published in the academic calendar.
Cancelling Registration / Postponement of Semester: Canceling registration means canceling registration of all courses for a particular semester. Provided that a student has been in the University for at least one semester, and for certain un-avoidable non-academic reasons the student may apply to postpone cancel the registration of all the courses for a particular semester.
Postponement of registration shall not exceed two consecutive semesters, or four separate semesters during the study period, including the semesters in which the student has sought cancellation of registration.
Degrees and Certificates
Degrees and Certificates shall be conferred at graduation semester or at such other times during the year and will be conferred only to candidates who have completed the graduation process and upon the approval of the college. The Degrees will be prepared and distributed by the registrar office.
