Guest Lecture – Preventing Cheating and Plagiarism
Aiming to exchange fruitful experiences regarding how to prevent cheating and plagiarism, Al Ghurair University organized a lecture on face-to-face and online assessment. Presented by Dr. Christine Coombe, an Associate Professor of General Studies at Dubai Men’s College, the presentation shed light on different forms of academic misconduct. Furthermore, the presentation discussed a variety of measures and procedures to minimize cheating and plagiarism behaviors, such as mitigating against cheating by enforcing an honor code, using a secure browser, and using test leak prevention technology. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Christine Coombe is the founder and co-chair of TESOL Arabia Testing SIG. She has published over fifty books and has won many awards in recognition of her significant contributions to research such as the British Council’s International Assessment Award for 2013. Her most recent honor was being named to the US Department of State’s 30@30 English language specialists in 2021.
